notes

ashley was so gracious  when we started brainstorming for this project;
creating an after party wedding set - the showstopping beading throughout
the neckline, waistline + sleeves was a big focal point that we agreed
needed to stay.

a top + skirt was what felt right with the amount of material we had to
work with + we didn’t want to use any new fabrics or fastenings - I loved
learning that ashley’s wedding day looks were all second-hand, including
the dress she got married in - cool bride move.

the necklace was created using the original lace + beaded waistline of
the gown which was hand constructed. after some reinforcing + adding
a clasp, it became the sweetest surprise of it all.

the finished crop was constructed from the original bodice of the gown +
turned backwards + refitted. the original zipper was removed + reutilized as
the front fastener. the original sleeves were deconstructed + used to create
the short sleeves, which can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned. hemlines were
refinished + lace reinforced throughout.

a pleated waistline + refinished hem for the skirt lining. a raw edge finish for
the lace skirt to keep it fun. the skirt was constructed using the deconstructed
skirt from the gown + the original lining was kept in place. extra piece of lining
was used to create the waist bow tie used to fasten the wrap skirt.

cheers to you ashley + erik!
